Year 6 national curriculum tests (also known as SATs)

Assessments in year 6 are used to measure school performance and to make sure individual pupils are supported in the best way possible as they move into secondary school. They take place in May each year and children are assessed in English grammar, punctuation and spelling, English reading and mathematics.

Results are reported using a scaled score to ensure accurate comparisons of pupil performance over time. Pupils scoring at least 100 will have met the expected standard on the test.

This following table shows final results data for pupils who completed key stage 2 in the summer of 2025 published by the DfE in April 2026.

Key stage 2 results 2025
Percentage of pupils who achieved the expected standard in reading, writing and maths31%
Percentage of pupils who achieved a higher standard of attainment in reading, writing and maths3%
Average score in reading100
Average score in maths101

Progress scores show how much progress children in our academy made in reading, writing and maths between the end of key stage 1 and the end of key stage 2. It is not possible to calculate key stage 1 to key stage 2 progress measures for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 academic years. This is because there is no key stage 1 baseline available to calculate primary progress measures for these years due to Covid-19 disruption.
