On Friday 24 May 2019, our talented football team got their hands on yet more silverware as they received the John Radford Trophy following their success last month.
The finals of the tournament took place took place at the RH Academy in Pleasley during early April. On the day, the team faced Holly Primary, Mapplewells and Greenwood, playing each team twice and ended the finals undefeated, winning four and drawing two of the matches.
This meant that for the second year running Samuel Barlow Primary have won this trophy – it also means that out of the six years it has been running we have been successful three times, and are able to keep the trophy as a result.
This morning we were joined by Mansfield Town Football Club director Steve Hymas and Football in the Community manager Gary Shaw to present our successful squad with their medals and the new John Radford Trophy.
We were delighted to be able to welcome our pupils’ families to the presentation, as we celebrated this success as an academy community. A special mention also to thank Mrs Hirst, Mr Hewitt and Mrs Robinson for their training, support and guidance for our team once again this season.
Well done to all of the pupils involved, some of who are very promising footballers – we’re so proud of you all and excited to see how far you can go in the game!
