We are thrilled to announce that Samuel Barlow Primary Academy, part of the Diverse Academies Trust, has achieved the prestigious Artsmark Silver Award for actively championing high-quality art and cultural education within our curriculum.

The Artsmark assessors commended our school for broadening our curriculum focus beyond the traditional emphasis on Maths and English. Our dedicated staff have redesigned the art curriculum, integrating discrete art units throughout the year. We provide a diverse range of arts and cultural experiences, through collaborations with local organisations, engaging field trips and weekly music lessons delivered by an external provider, so that every pupil has access to enriching artistic opportunities.

Both children and teachers are now utilising sketchbooks to develop and showcase their artistic skills, reflecting our continuous journey towards fostering a love for the arts.

Principal, Jon Chapman, said: “We are immensely proud of the progress we have made and remain committed to nurturing our pupils’ passion for the arts. This award marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to provide a well-rounded and enriching education.”

What is Artsmark?
