In July of this year, as part of a project by Thoresby Estate and North Notts College to restore the estate’s Victorian Walled Garden, Samuel Barlow pupils were invited to enter a competition to design the new main entrance gate.

Many of our children submitted an entry, showing off their creative skills, but one of our pupils was successful in having his design chosen to be incorporated into the restoration project. Elliot S (who was in year 6 but has since moved up to secondary school) designed a brilliant crest in the centre of the gate which has been included in the final plans for the new entrance, alongside elements from other pupils who entered the competition.

Elliott was presented with a certificate at the site of the Walled Garden on Friday last week, and was able to see exactly where his design will be installed.

Well done to Elliott – a really brilliant piece of work, and despite him not being at Samuel Barlow any more, one that we’re really proud to share!
