The Samuel Barlow Primary Academy day is structured as follows:
8.45am – academy day begins
The academy gates open at 8.30am, and nursery doors open for children who do morning sessions and 30hours, to begin learning.
Reception and year 1-6 children need to be in line by 8.40am. Children will be marked late if they arrive at the academy after this time.
10.30am-10.45am – break time
All children have a morning break. There is a large playground, play equipment, and a large field that allows children to get some fresh air, explore, spend time with friends and develop through these interactions. All playtimes are supervised by staff.
12pm-12.50pm – lunchtime
All children get 50 minutes for lunch. Children are welcome to bring a healthy packed lunch or enjoy one of our academy meals that are prepared on site and paid for in advance. Dinners are provided free of charge for children in reception, year 1 and year 2.
A wide range of playground games are played during lunchtimes, and our staff oversee these activities to ensure all children are safe and happy.
2.15pm-2.30pm – afternoon break
All children in years 1 and 2 have an afternoon break that is supervised by staff. All children in key stage 2 do the daily mile at this time.
3.25pm – home time for reception and years 1-6
Staff see the children out at the end of the day, unless children are attending one of our wide range of after school clubs.
3.30pm – academy day ends
Staff see the children out from nursery at the end of the day.
Please note: Children may not be dropped off or collected by minors under the age of 16. In exceptional circumstances, and only if the school has been informed in advance by a parent / carer, we may allow a child aged 16 or over to drop off or collect a child.
Where another adult is delegated to collect a child, we will expect to issue the parent with a password for the delegated adult to use with the school office.
Children attend school for a total of 32 hours and 30 minutes per week.
