Appointed governor

Why did you become a governor?

I’ve been a site assistant- in a secondary school- since 2021 and I’d taken an interest in being more involved with the school community. Since my experience was mainly secondary education, I wanted to further my knowledge and understanding by joining governance for a primary school.

How did you find out about the role?

The opportunity came up through the academy trust that I am an employee for.

What do you like about the role, your experience and how do governors make a difference?

I enjoy being a governor as I feel as though I can offer an alternative opinion to other members of the committee. As a site assistant, I can offer knowledge surrounding relevant policies and procedures (e.g. health and safety etc). I believe that governors make a difference by supporting the needs of the school, staff, leadership, children and parents whilst challenging when necessary.
