In year 1 this week our pupils have been learning all about money and they put this learning to great use today as they opened their own Ice Cream shop on the academy playground.
Children from year 2 heard the ice-cream chimes (or at least Miss Smith telling them that there were treats on offer…) and visited the pop-up shop where they could buy an ice cream or ice pop for £1. The year 1 pupils had to use their new money skills to check the amount given to them for the items and put it into the till – a great use of their maths knowledge!
It has been a fab afternoon for the children to build the basic life skills of using money and learning maths in context. Well done to all!
