On Thursday 17th October our foundation 2 class were treated to a visit by the Edwinstowe Fire Service. The children took part in a presentation in class where we discussed what to do in a fire and how we can keep safe. We spoke about the importance of fire safety and what to do in an emergency. The children acted this out in class and amazed the firefighters with their participation and enthusiasm!
After this, we ventured out into the academy car park where the children excitedly got to explore a real fire engine. We looked at all the different compartments on the vehicle and explored where the firemen kept their tools and equipment for a real life emergency. The children were able to sit in the vehicle and even used the hose out on the field which was great fun!
The children were an credit to themselves and to the academy, asking questions and engaging in all that was asked of them. We could not be more proud of the children at Samuel Barlow Primary Academy, and can not thank Edwinstowe Fire Service enough. We look forward to seeing them again!
