February has marked a busy month for Samuel Barlow Primary Academy as we celebrated children’s mental health week and took part in Young Voices 2026.
The theme for children mental health week this year was ‘this is my place’ and focused on helping children feel safe and valued. We took part in a range of activities and discussions, where we spoke about the importance of talking about our feelings, celebrating what makes us unique and showing kindness to those around us.
We had the pleasure of welcoming Lee from Mansfield community trust into the academy to hold an assembly about children’s mental health and how their organisation supports children through football and connections to the community.
We also participated in this years Young Voices. The children worked so hard leading up to the concert learning all the songs and dance moves and when show day came they all put on a fabulous performance. We wanted to say a huge thank you too the Sir John Eastwood Foundation who kindly funded the event for all the pupils who attended, it was such a great experience for the children to be apart of.
