Over the summer break, we applied for a ‘Your Story Corner’ pack from the charity Bookmark. This is a charity that supports schools by providing books and resources to help create a reading culture and support literacy in the community.

We are thrilled to announce that we were successful in our application and have received 200 books, worth £2000, to create a reading space in our academy. This opportunity has come at a fantastic time for us, as we are planning to develop a new library to promote reading for pleasure.

We celebrated this wonderful news in our weekly reading assembly, where assistant principal Rachael Travill shared the books and invited children to design the new library, which we will be busy creating over half term. Children and staff are so grateful and blown away by the number of books we have received and we are all so excited for our new library.

Thank you to Bookmark Charity for this amazing gift and in supporting us as we promote reading for pleasure, we can’t wait to share our library transformation.
