We are taking part in Anti-Bullying Week 2021, which takes place from Monday 15 – Friday 19 November – this years theme is ‘One Kind Word’
What are we doing in the academy?
We are focusing on being kind and the impact one kind word can have.
In a world that can sometimes feel like it’s filled with negativity, one kind word can provide a moment of hope. It can be a turning point. It can change someone’s perspective. It can change their day. It can change the course of a conversation and break the cycle of bullying. Best of all, one kind word leads to another. Kindness fuels kindness. So from the playground to Parliament, and from our phones to our homes, together, our actions can fire a chain reaction that powers positivity. It starts with one kind word. It starts today.
There will also be plenty of other things going on in the academy, including:
Odd Socks Day
Odd Socks day takes place on the first day of Anti-Bullying Week each year to help raise awareness of bullying – children are encouraged to express themselves and celebrate their individuality!
Chain reaction of kindness
We are going to start a chain reaction of kindness. We ask each person in our academy community – children and adults – to do at least three kind things to help start this chain reaction. As part of this, we are also going to introduce our Kindness Tree – which will have names of children who have carried out random acts of kindness – this will be something we continue throughout the year and will also hold any kind words passed on from our local community.
Food bank donations
To show kindness to others, we are encouraging families, if they feel they are able, to donate any food items as part of our Children in Need day on Friday.
